About Beijing GAA
Beijing GAA celebrated its fifth anniversary recently by hosting a marvellously successful All-China Games. Teams from all over China played out a full day of great football at the Xiaowuji Football Grounds just off the fourth ring road on Beijing's southwest side. Beijing emerged victors in the ladies finals while Shanghai took the honours in the men's finals. The Games were given extensive coverage in the Chinese and Irish press. Beijing's gaelic footballers get back to work now to prepare for the All-Asia Gaelic Games finals, set for Malaysia in the autumn. Training Tuesday evening 19.00-21-00 and Sunday 12-14.00. The Beijing Gaelic football club was born around six years ago when when a small group of mostly-Irish pioneers of the Beijing men’s Gaelic football club got together to represent the Chinese capital at the 2003 Asia Gaelic Games in Hong Kong. The men’s team beat a Hong Kong side to win the All-China champions in 2005 while the club’s women’s team, the first in mainland China , was established by a determined core of women to traveled down to that tournament. They’ve since been China and Asia champions. Irish and Chinese television reported on the All-China Gaelic Games finals in 2008, which was hosted by Beijing GAA.
